For those of you who might have missed our VIP in December, we are going to share some of the things we showed at the event. On our fall retreat, Therese worked for a couple hours on her rug with a double cording foot (#60). The #60 is for standard machines as well as has an option for coded stitching for those with 9mm sewing machines. The foot is available for older Bernina machines as well. The #60 is a wider double groove than a #59. The feet make this a very easy project to tackle. In fact we are thinking this might be a class we would run in the future for young people.
I was amazed and a bit jealous at her rapid progress on the rug at retreat. Her goal is to make this a rug 6 feet across for her living room. I love what she got done on this one. Look at the fabulous use of neutrals. These are scraps of fabrics that she trimmed up and wrapped the cording on this for her rug.
This much of her rug was made with one coil of cotton clothesline. And when you wonder what will happen when it gets bigger and can she get it in the arm of her machine, think about it that the cable keeps going around the outside edge with the largest part of the rug to her left.
Since starting this one, she has gone on to make some coasters. Roxanne has made an adorable yellow handbag and a basket. This is very addictive! It is a very quick and easy project to make. With very little time, you could make a fun rug for your entryway or a cozy mat for your table.
All the Best to You, jill
